Hat day - Thursday 5 August 2010

'Hat Day' will celebrate its 6th birthday this year on the traditional Thursday (5th August) of the Great British Beer Festival.

Visitors have been encouraged since 2005 to participate in this fun event by bringing a hat along that they have either made or are very fond of.

There have been a number of wonderful hats on parade over the years and our judges will again be walking around Earls Court throughout the day rewarding the best hats with free beer vouchers, with the overall best hat worn by a festival goer winning a bag full of CAMRA goodies.

The real ale breweries have also been taking part in their own competition since 2005.

Greene King and Wells and Young's (previously Charles Wells) have won the title twice, with Marston's also sharing the cup in 2007. Which brewery will pull-out all the stops this year to make sure they have the most branded hats on parade come 6pm?

Chito Salarza-Grant has won Hat of the Day for his fantastic creation and walks away with this year's trophy.

Chito said, "This hat took me 7 days to make and cost around £90 to make. Loads of people have been trying the hat on and this has led to me making many new friends!"

Chito won a goody bag which included some CAMRA books, beer vouchers, GBBF T-Shirt and CAMRA pen.

Thanks to everyone who took part.
