Programme of live music
Not content with being one of the biggest and best beer festivals in the world, GBBF 2009 is continuing the tradition of making sure we present a musical line-up worthy of any of the summer festivals.

Tuesday 4 August 2009, 7.15pm and 9pm
They love playing GBBF and we love having them, so the Chaminade String Quartet will be easing festival goers into the week on Tuesday evening with smooth classics, jazz and popular favourites.

Folk-rock legends the Acoustic Strawbs will kick off Wednesday's musical entertainment. Celebrating their 40th anniversary the Strawbs are made up of David Cousins, Dave Lambert and Chas Cronk, although the band has been a seed bed for other great talent including Rick Wakeman and Sandy Denny.

Wednesday 5 August 2009, 7.15pm and 9pm
Feast of Fiddles will be taking up the beat from the Strawbs as Wednesday afternoon turns to evening. It's the second time this joyful musical group has taken to the stage at GBBF and will be bringing their "smile-filled journey through stirring tune medleys, tear-jerking melodies and arrangements featuring themes you might recognise" back once more.

Thursday 6 August 2009, 1pm and 2.30pm
Phil Bates and Mik Kaminski will be joined by Tina McBain, from the Eleanor Rigby Experience, to explore some new arrangements of classic Beatles songs, especially those with Blues influences. Alongside this, Mik and Phil will be exploring some of the ideas they were playing with 10 years ago, when they last recorded together as a duo. It's going to be a treat with some great blues, material from Phil's solo career and of course some ELO and Violinski tunes as well.

Thursday 6 August 2009, 7.15pm and 9pm
Once the bad boys of folk and rock, Oysterband have matured over the last few years and the "musical custodians and godfathers of folk" will be taking to the stage on Thursday evening. The band, which once toured with the Pogues, says the raw rush which helped them survive that experience has evolved into a more measured and powerful performance. Keep your ears open for the Oysterband trademarks, a great vocal tune, strong lyrics, wry politics, deep-down musicality and a essentially acoustic, folk-based set put over with big dynamics and a strong sense of theatre.

Friday 7th August 2009, 1pm and 2.30pm
Friday afternoon sees a legend of folk and traditional music arrive on the GBBF stage. Having clocked up nearly 40 years with folk rock pioneers Steeleye Span, fiddle player Peter Knight has earned his name and reputation. He's formed his own trio Gigspanner to explore the areas of music which interest and excite him - along with guitarist Roger Flack and afro-precussionist Vincent Salzfaas.

Friday 7th August 2009, 7.15pm and 9pm
The clue is in the name for Friday evening's entertainment. The Ukulele Orchestra is an orchestra, of ukulele players. The all-strumming, all-singing group takes all sorts of music and puts it through the ukulele prism. Funny, ironic and often moving, the Orchestra can also rock hard - they packed the field at Glastonbury - or play with soft poignancy.
